Did You Miss Me?

Hi. I'm back. It's been a tough few months, but that's no excuse for my lack of posting. I've broken up with my longtime girlfriend, but five months ago, I got an upgrade and couldn't be happier. I've moved into a smaller, more efficient apartment and finally gotten reconnected to the interweb. I still have my records, my decks, my drum machines. In the coming weeks, I'll be producing beats for two local MCs and continuing to hustle occasional DJ gigs. So it's all good.

I'm a complicated guy. An optimist that's convinced we're all fucked. A romantic that's been a selfish, callous prick. Quick-tempered and mellow. I'm a photographer, DJ, producer, gallerist, bartender, occasional guitar player and an even less occasional music writer. And I'm trying to reconcile all of those things.

My goals? I'm going to produce music for a living. Somehow, someway, I am going to make this work. In the past, I was too afraid to follow my dreams and dive headfirst into my life's work. No more. At 27, I am finally going for it. Is there a market for abstract, psychedelic, free-jazz and synth-pop influenced soultronica? Maybe, maybe not. I hope you'll be finding out with me.

But in the upcoming weeks, I'll be reviewing box sets by Big Star, Kraftwerk and some group from Liverpool, England. I'll also be listing 50 Albums You Should Hear Now. I hope you'll stick with me.
